Over the past few years every so often an Iranian nuclear scientist would find himself on the wrong end of a high powered explosive device. The method of choice was motorcycle riding assassins latching bombs onto moving vehicles and then scooting off before the target was sent to meet his maker. The technique has been credited with killing at least five high level scientists and setting back Iran’s nuclear weapons program by months if not years – an intelligence agency success story if there ever was one. The public wonderment of who was responsible for the targeted killings ended on February 9, 2012 when NBC News ran a story saying Obama administration officials had confirmed Israel’s involvement in the assassinations.
Betraying an ally to appease the murderous Iranian regime dedicated to the destruction of Israel and the United States wasn’t enough for Obama. A couple days later he sent Hillary Clinton to make it crystal clear the Obama administration disapproved of Israel’s actions: “I want to categorically deny any United States involvement in any kind of act of violence inside Iran,” Clinton said on February 11. National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor added “The United States had absolutely nothing to do with this. We strongly condemn all acts of violence, including acts of violence like this.”
The very same administration that had massively escalated the conflict in Afghanistan, started a war in Libya and had been doing victory laps for months over the slaying of Osama bin Laden had all of a sudden grown a conscious when it came to killing bad guys? According to retired Air Force Captain Gary Fine, the Obama administration’s actions were tantamount to accusing Israel of state sponsored terrorism:
The Obama administration has tacitly encouraged the attack media to equate Syria’s terrorist actions, which include openly murdering thousands of its own people, to Israel’s unconfirmed self-defensive, targeted, coordinated, assistance to an Iranian anti-government group in its action against a handful of Iranian scientists.
Before spilling its guts to NBC News, the Obama administration had already publicly revealed a covert Israeli “deal with Azerbaijan to use airbases in that country as a staging point for an attack on the Iranian nuclear facilities. In 2010, the Obama administration leaked information of a covert deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia to use Saudi airspace for such an attack.” Israel has since reserved the right to bomb Iran without first notifying the U.S. Considering how little regard Obama has for Israel’s national security secrets, can anyone really blame them?
